Today's competing brands of spark plugs try to get your attention with hype about various electrode configurations and component metals, and gain your confidence with a prestigious or long established brand name... but there is really not much about the spark itself that makes the dozens of major brands different from each other today, or from spark plugs of 50 years ago.  A twelve dollar "spark" plug makes just about the same 50 watt spark as a three dollar "spark" plug.  PULSE plugs ARE DIFFERENT:

What all ordinary spark plugs have in common is inefficiency.  They just don't manifest enough ENERGY quickly enough to initiate a complete explosion of the fuel/air mixture.  Some of the gasoline isn't burned, therefore its potential energy goes out the exhaust pipe instead of being turned into torque and horsepower.

At BetrMPG.com, we had to be convinced, just like you, so we tried them in our 'fun car', a 1995 BMW 325i convertible with just over 100,000 miles on it.  On April 9, 2008, we strapped it to a dynamometer, and ran it through a test cycle called 'E-PEP', a simulation with a mixture of hard and easy acceleration, freeway and city traffic.  The car was equipped with Bosch Super Plus plugs in excellent condition, and had been delivering quite acceptable driving performance and showing long term fuel economy on a routine daily commute of 23.4 MPG in light urban traffic, no freeway time.

The RESULTS were IMMEDIATE and IMPRESSIVE!  As you can see from the table, horsepower and torque increased enough to measure, and ENOUGH TO NOTICE!  And on top of all that, FUEL ECONOMY increased MORE THAN ENOUGH to justify the cost of Pulstars vs. ordinary spark plugs.

The chart below shows the routine that a vehicle is put through during a ten minute dynamometer test under simulated load and traffic conditions.  During this test, the amount of fuel used is measured to a tolerance of  .0001 cubic centimeters!
